Diablo Immortal introduces a huge number of systems very quickly. Classes, gear, Combat Rating, Legendary Essences, Legendary Gems, Normal Gems, Paragon, Familiars, factions, raids, dungeons, PvP, Legacy of the Horadrim, Warbands, equipment upgrades, and more can all start competing for your attention.

The important thing to understand as a new player is that you do not need to master everything at once.

Your early priorities should be:

Choose a class you actually enjoy.
Progress through the main story.
Keep increasing your Combat Rating.
Upgrade permanent progression systems.
Collect Legendary Essences for your class.
Build a sensible Legendary and Normal Gem foundation.
Establish a daily and weekly routine that fits your available playtime.

Choosing Your First Class

There is no single class that is permanently the best at everything in Diablo Immortal. Balance changes, new Legendary Essences, new gear, and different game modes can dramatically change where each class excels.

Choose based primarily on the type of gameplay you enjoy.

Barbarian

A close-range melee fighter with strong survivability, mobility, and aggressive pressure. Barbarian is a good choice if you enjoy getting directly into packs of enemies rather than fighting from a distance.

Blood Knight

A melee to mid-range class built around vampiric abilities, life-draining effects, mobility, and crowd control. Blood Knight can be particularly appealing to players who like aggressive combat with defensive tools mixed in.

Crusader

A melee to mid-range fighter that combines damage, durability, mobility, buffs, and holy abilities. Crusader is especially useful for players who enjoy contributing to group content while remaining capable on their own.

Demon Hunter

Warlock

Warlock is a strong choice for players who enjoy setting up combinations, applying persistent damage and debuffs, and controlling fights through dark magic rather than relying entirely on direct burst damage.

Wizard

A ranged spellcaster built around elemental magic, area damage, control, and powerful skill combinations.

Don't Stress About Choosing Wrong

Diablo Immortal includes Class Change, so your first class is not a permanent commitment.

If your current class stops being fun, experiment with something else.

Follow the Main Story First

Your main story quests should be the backbone of your early progression.

You do not need to fully complete every zone before moving forward.

Learn the Basic Combat Systems

Your class uses a Primary Attack alongside several active skills.

Some skills can be aimed or charged, while others activate immediately. As you fight, your Ultimate also charges and can eventually be triggered for a powerful temporary effect.

Experiment with the skills you unlock.

Early in the game, learning how your class moves, deals damage, escapes danger, and controls enemies is more important than copying an advanced meta rotation.

Turn On Auto Pick Up

Enable Auto Pick Up in your game settings.

You will collect enormous amounts of equipment during normal progression, and much of it will eventually be salvaged.

Understand Your Equipment

Your character eventually uses two broad groups of equipment:

Don't Judge Gear Only by Rarity

During early progression, however, Combat Rating usually deserves more attention than perfect affixes.

Upgrade Your Equipment Slots

You are not really upgrading one temporary helmet.

You are progressing your helmet slot.

That distinction means you should not wait for mythical "perfect endgame gear" before using upgrade materials.

Salvage Unwanted Equipment

Visit the Blacksmith and salvage equipment you no longer need.

Extract New Essences

Open the first Sanctum chest regularly.

Once an eligible Legendary Gem reaches the required rank, the associated gear slot can eventually be awakened using a Dawning Echo.

The important beginner lesson is that awakening is tied to the slot, giving you another reason to think about permanent progression rather than individual temporary gear pieces.

Familiars: Keep It Simple at First

Familiars can become a surprisingly deep system, but new players do not need to understand every conversion mechanic, attribute threshold, passive skill, or market strategy immediately.

You can eventually maintain several Familiars, but only your active Companion fights alongside you and uses its active ability in combat.
